Texas Motor Speedway Weather updates

This weekend’s weather in Forth Worth, Texas has hampered the race schedule. Last nights Nationwide Series race along with Sprint Cup Series training runs had to be canceled due to rain. Today’s forecast also shows rain as a possibility.

The Sprint Cup Series is currently being lead by Jimmie Johnson with 1073 points. Today at the Texas Motor Speedway he is starting fourth which could put him in contention to win again.

The Texas Motor Speedway which was opened in February 1996 hosts two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races each year. It is a 1.5 mile track and is very similar to the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The track is owned by Speedway Motorsports Inc., who also owns Atlanta, Charlotte, and Bristol. The last Sprint Cup Series race held here was November 2009 and Kurt Busch was the winner.
