For the American figure skater Johnny Weir it was a pleasant surprise that his new roommate was a girl and that too not just any other girl but his nemesis’s ex-love Tanith Belbin.

After facing accommodation problems at the Winter Olympics at Vancouver the 3 Americans were left with two suites. One was a single bedroom suite while the other a 2-bedroom apartment. Since Evan Lysacek didn’t want to share his private moments before the finals with his rival Weir and also sharing it with her ex-girlfriend Belbin was also unimaginable, the American decided to go with the single room. This automatically placed Johnny and Tanith together on the same boat, who were themselves pretty happy with the situation.

Johnny, who has some sexual orientation issues, said that he initially thought that it wouldn’t be possible to share a room with a woman but with the woman being Tanith it seemed like a perfect match for the old friends. Weir and Belbin have already

shared residence before when Weir had come over to stay with the Belbins during a competition in Detroit.

Johnny hails from Coatesville, Pennsylvania and is a 3 time US National Champion in the sports of figure skating and has also been the 2001 World Junior Champion. Belbin was originally from Kingston, Ontario but currently resides in Pennsylvania after gaining her dual citizenship under special circumstances. Belbin now only participates as an ice dancer with the American Benjamin Agosto as her pair. Together they have won silver at 2006 Olympic, have won U.S. Championship 5 times and are 4 times World medalist.
