Jim Zorn Fired
The Washington Redskins fired head coach Jim Zorn on Monday, just hours after a 23-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers ended a season which yielded just four wins. Zorn, who had one year left on his contract, was 12-20 during his two years with the Redskins. “The status quo is not acceptable,” Redskins general manager Bruce Allen, who has been in the job for three weeks, said in a statement. “I felt it was necessary to not waste a moment of time to begin building this team into a winner.” Zorn, 56, was expected to be replaced by former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan in the next few days, the Washington Post reported, citing team officials.
