Gets First Break Meryl Streeps Daughter

LOS ANGELES: Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer will be starring in a TV drama about the chaotic life of being a “Hollywood and” child, marking the first major opportunity Gummer in industry performance.

Gummer, 23, will play a 17-year-old daughter of a celebrity couple famous “Giant” a fictional series for TeenNick described as a coming of age story among the elite of Los Angeles that the closure of a star-making promotion machinery, Nickelodeon said Wednesday.

The daughter of actor Joe Mantegna in Gia, 19, who grew up in Los Angeles, also will star in the series, which is to debut in youth-oriented TeenNick in early 2010.

“Our audience loves the celebrity and pop culture, and a giant gives them a unique perspective relatable teenager in a world that rarely gets to see,” said Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon’s executive vice president.

Gummer is the third of Oscar winner Streep four children with her husband Don Gummer. Streep, who lives in New York is keeping their children out of the limelight, but Grace appeared on stage in New York in November 2008 in a black comedy called “The sexual neuroses of our parents.”

Her older sister Mamie Gummer, 26, had minor roles in the 2009 film “Taking Woodstock” and HBO mini-series “John Adams”.
